Given the scope of recent events—our country’s debt ceiling, the downgrading of credit, the Wall Street dips—we better strap in for yet another wild ride on this rollercoaster we call our economy. With unemployment hovering near 10%—my gut tells me real unemployment is probably closer to 15 or 16%—and home values continuing to erode, consumer confidence is dropping faster than the Dow. If landlords were starting to feel bullish about retail because they believed we were in a recovery, I think they’re mistaken. Sales may still increase this year, but retailers likely will (and should) remain conservative and move forward with caution. We’re going to see more change and, while we may be better prepared this time around, these changes may not be kind to our industry.

RCS promotes Moe Puri to Vice President

RCS is pleased to announce the promotion of Moe Puri to Vice President from Assistant Vice President. A member of the RCS Real Estate Advisors team since 2008, Puri’s primary responsibilities included renegotiating leases on behalf of clients. He has since elevated his expertise and, as a Vice President, is managing several key client real estate portfolios. He has become an accomplished negotiator, working with many of the largest retail landlords in the country on behalf of our clients.
