RCS Senior Vice President Spence J. Mehl to Speak at TMA's 2010 Annual Convention in Orlando, FL

Mehl will be a panelist for the session titled, "Breaking New Ground: Trends in Real Estate Restructurings," which will look at recent trends in real estate restructurings.

Spence J. Mehl, senior vice president, will be a panelist for the session titled, “Breaking New Ground: Trends in Real Estate Restructurings,” being held on Thursday, October 7 from 10:30am to 11:45am at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes. This multidisciplinary panel will look at recent trends in real estate restructurings.

Specifically, attendees will learn how to:

  • Examine general economic trends affecting commercial real estate
  • Focus on the challenges and opportunities that are presented in both in-court and out-of-court restructurings
  • Identify the tools that are offered to debtors and creditors by the U.S. Chapter 11 bankruptcy process
  • Analyze the various loan restructuring strategies for a variety of situations, including bank lenders, life insurance companies and loans obtained through collateralized mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) and mezzanine financing.

 

With RCS since 1995, Mehl is known throughout the industry as an effective negotiator and expert in property dispositions. Prior to joining RCS, he worked as general counsel and real estate director for a national retail chain and practiced law in New York, focusing on transactional real estate litigation. Mehl holds a JD degree from St. John’s University School of Law and a BA from Tulane University.
