Roger Burghdorf has gone from trying to find retailers to fill up malls to trying to find spaces for tenants to expand. Formerly the senior vice president and the director of leasing for Westfield Group's US malls, he was recently hired as senior vice president of New York City-based Retail Consulting Services. Burghdorf's new firm is mainly known for assisting troubled retailers with their turnaround strategies, but he is charged with assisting healthy tenants with their expansion plans. Some of the firm's clients in this area include Forever 21 and Picture People. Burghdorf recently spoke with GSR about the direction of his new duties and the changing retail environment.
